Remembering Uganda

July 6, 2013

My pastor preached recently on the Isrealite’s exodus from Egypt, specifically focusing on God’s command to the Isrealites to REMEMBER what God had done by delivering them from Egypt. The Isrealites were to CELEBRATE God’s deliverance through having a couple different parties (the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread), and they were to TELL about what those celebrations meant when they were asked about them.

Well, that got me to thinking about the amazing journey God has taken us on the past year by expanding our family through the miracle of adoption. And in the same way the Isrealites were to celebrate and tell of the way God freed them from slavery and brought them into their own land, I want to celebrate and tell what God has done in our family by showing His power and care in all circumstances.

I am going to start posting stories from our time in Uganda, which started exactly a year ago today, as we boarded a plane as a family of four, excited to meet our newest family members after months and months of waiting. Most of these stories will be in the form of emails that I wrote to family and friends, updating them on our journey in-country.

Note: If you are considering or are in the process of adopting from Uganda, please know that your process may look very different from ours. International adoption procedures and timelines change quickly and vary widely, and Uganda is no exception.
